Deloitte Pretoria held a very successful collection for clothing4children on the 7th of September 2012 at their Ashlea Garden offices. The event – in partnership with clothing4 children and turn the tide 4 children – saw 761 bags of clothing collected for the needy.
clothing4children (c4c) is a non-profit organisation which mobilises the youth to give good quality used clothing, shoes and linen to the poor. Since the launch of c4c at the end of 2010, already 85 243 bags of clothing have been collected, with an estimated retail value of 255 million rand. This clothing has been collected and distributed to the needy in partnership with turn the tide 4 children (ttt4c).
Deloitte Pretoria certainly took up this challenge to give, and in so doing, to bless others. The Deloitte employees embraced the initiative – with some even roping in their neighbours and clients to assist in the collection of clothes for the needy. Others resorted to asking people they met in the street to donate and make a difference.
The mountain of clothing bags at the Deloitte offices was indeed inspiring and enthusiastic employees helped load the bags of clothing onto the trucks at the offices
The distribution of the clothing will be undertaken by ttt4c through their network of high impact churches, who will distribute the clothing to the needy in their communities
As one of the Deloitte managers expressed: “A company cannot find meaning in profitability alone.
Well done to Deloitte for making a difference. May this initiative inspire other companies to do the same!
