The Lenasia Church of the Nazarene, in partnership with turn the tide 4 children, recently distributed 50 blankets to less fortunate children from the informal settlement of Thembelisha in Ext 10, Lenasia.
According to the Rev Peter Naidoo of the church: “Our church has recently run a Vacation Bible School and also runs a weekly Sunday School in the informal settlement. Our hearts were stirred when we saw the joy on the faces of the shivering children as they received a sandwich and some milo.”
The church became aware of the dire need of the children and decided to participate in tide 4 children’s annual blankets4children drive.
Rev Naidoo continues…
“The freezing weather did not deter the children from coming by the hundreds. We only had 50 blankets to hand out – and if we had 500, we would have handed out every one of them. We created a ‘fun day’ atmosphere – where the children played around, before giving each child something to eat and drink. The blankets were then distributed to those that we saw were mostly in need. The faces of joy, in knowing that they would sleep with warmth that night, were indescribable.
Our thanks to Walk thru the Bible and turn the tide 4 children for their initiative in this project.”
