We are truly blessed to see the great work of the South African training team, led by Yolande Nunes. And we are excited at the response to their inaugural year in 2011 and the partnerships that have grown out of their efforts. One exciting partnership is with The Joshua Youth Development and Service Programme, a ministry of Metropolitan Evangelical Services. As new groups of young people join the program each January, KidZ-South Africa has been asked to provide training as part of their orientation programme.
What a challenging and awesome responsibility it would be to minister to children who are homeless in the inner city of Johannesburg! Now, imagine you are a young person who has been called to give a year of your life before going on to college or the job market to minister in this context – how important it would be to be trained in how to effectively reach and teach children!
Eighteen participants from the Joshua programme attended training January 25 & 26 and the feedback from the group was encouraging. One participant shared… “I enjoyed all the interactive story-telling techniques. I have learned to plan a lesson that will be fun and meaningful to children instead of just having them memorize facts! The course has showed me how I need to have a close relationship with God in order to help others grow in their relationship with Him.” ~Liza Coetzee, Johannesburg
“The training meant a lot to me. I learnt more about the Lord. It really touched me and the way I work with children. I realized how special children are.” ~Nelio S. Khumalo

“I learned that one should not always use methods that are most comfortable for you as a teacher, but rather what will help the children learn more effectively. The course was very insightful.” ~Amy Horn
“I enjoyed Bringing the Bible to Life and how children learn in different ways. I have learned a lot and my passion for children has grown even more! You have inspired me to do more for children because of God’s great love for them. Thank you.” ~Pamela Dube
“I will definitely encourage others to do this training. It is priceless! The way I have been thinking about children’s ministry has been transformed. It is actually fun to teach children about the Bible and God. It is a great responsibility.” ~Blessing Ndobe

“I enjoyed the session on How to Lead a Child to Christ. I will continue to practice it and share it with all the kids I work with. My passion to work with children has been ignited! “This is the second time I have done the training and it still motivates me. It is fun! The highlight was to learn how to lead a child to Christ.” ~Xolani Nlapo
